Cobo Full Custody implements a robust 3-tier (hot-warm-cold) private key storage architecture with 95% of funds securely stored in cold wallets and only 5% in hot and warm wallets.
Cold wallets maximize security by storing private keys completely offline, making any hacking attempt nearly impossible since an attacker would require physical access to the wallet device itself, as well as the passwords to unlock it. Cobo further safeguards the cold wallets through key sharding and strategically distributing the offline key shards across multiple physical locations globally.
Hot wallets cater for fast withdrawals and deposits. To ensure the security and integrity of transactions, Cobo leverages bank-grade Hardware Security Modules (HSM), Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), risk policies and Cobo Auth for 2FA.
For warm wallets, Cobo combines the transaction speed of hot wallets with the strict security of cold wallets by storing the private key shards offline and only connecting to the internet when required. As an additional layer of security, warm wallet transactions are restricted to only whitelisted addresses.
