2018 has been a mostly-down year for cryptocurrency prices, but it’s been a massively-up year for Cobo. We’ve compiled a list of our top-five accomplishments from the past year of building products that make it easy to own and use digital assets. As we count down to 2019, check out our count-up of our proudest achievements in 2018:
Inspired by our own issues with existing hardware wallet solutions, Cobo Vault is a high-end cryptocurrency storage solution designed to be the most durable and secure hardware wallet on the market. We were especially happy that one of our most innovative features - the Vault’s self-destruction mechanism - was covered extensively by industry media and outlets like Forbes.
While 2018 was full of storylines about institutions like Goldman Sachs offering cryptocurrency products to investors, regulatory uncertainty and a lack of custodial solutions have kept interested organizations on the sidelines. In late 2018, Cobo launched Cobo Custody, a custodial service to help investors keep client assets secure, comply with regulatory requirements, and manage risks.
We’ve always been proud of our flagship mobile wallet, Cobo Wallet, for innovative features like pooled PoS staking. In the last year Cobo Wallet has really grown up, passing 500,000 registered users in the middle of the year. We also added support for DApps and a load of other features. Have a quick look at this animated video for more about our great mobile app, or head over to our download page if you’re one of the uninitiated!
You could be forgiven for thinking that we’ve been around for a long time, but Cobo celebrated its first year of existence in November 2018. Have a look at the other items on this list and take a moment to image what Cobo will be able to accomplish in the next year (or 10)!
Hard to sum this one up better than the Forbes article:
"Beijing-based startup Cobo, the developer of a software wallet for cryptocurrencies with baked-in Proof of Stake (PoS) mining rewards, has raised $13 million in Series A funding. DHVC, which is an investor in numerous blockchain projects including Dirt Protocol and Messari, led the round with Wu Capital. Cobo plans to use the funds to expand the app globally and launch a new hardware wallet, Cobo Vault."
